What better way to celebrate Christmas down under than by visiting Santa at Australia Zoo? Santa will be roaming the Zoo until 24 December to check his list and decide who's naughty or nice. You can even take a photo with him in the wildlife studio at 11.00 am.

The annual festival encourages people to plan a day out in Mary Valley Country, and see if they can find the variety of serious and not so serious straw creations along the way. Spetember is Wellness Month at Eumundi Markets


Put Saturdays in September in your diary for Wellness Month at Eumundi Markets - celebrating all things good for your body, mind and soul. Hosted at the Original Eumundi Markets, Wellness Month is free of charge. 

Market visitors are encouraged to come along each Saturday for free yoga classes; healthy cooking demonstrations by renowned health foodies; and workshops and talks by some of Australia's top health and wellness professionals. 

In addition there will be a Wellness Trail of over 50 health and wellness stalls throughout the market including healing foods, herbal medicines, essential oils, candles, incense, soaps and skincare, homeopathy, naturopathy, massage, clairvoyance and astrology.

Sunshine Coast Marathon 2016


Sunshine Coast Marathon and Community Running Festival (19 - 21 August), is one of the most-loved running festivals in Australia.

This not-for-profit event has been timed to make the most of the ideal Queensland winter running conditions. Blue skies, low humidity and mild temperatures combined with a flat course always enable fast times. 

Event distances include the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km, 5km and the 2km. Each road race follows the stunning coastline of Alexandra Headlands with white sandy beaches and spectacular vantage points alongside the ocean. 

With a distance to suit every ability and age group, this community-focused, world-class athletic event caters to all those wanting to take part, including families and those with both physical and intellectual disabilities.

The Queensland Oztag All Schools tournament is Queensland Oztag's premier school based event and is open to teams representing both public and private secondary schools throughout the state. 
Prizes will be presented to winning teams of each division. Come and see whose up for the challenge to be declared Queensland State Champion!

International Rally of Queensland



Some of the fastest drivers in the world are heading to the Sunshine Coast for the annual International Rally of Queensland. Crews from as far afield as Europe, India and Japan, plus others from Malaysia, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Australia battle for the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship on scenic stages around Imbil and Kenilworth. 

For a up-close experience on Friday night, join the fun of the official Ceremonial Start in Cotton Tree Park. Drivers and cars will be on display and there will be plenty of entertainment, food and refreshments.

Big Pineapple Markets


The Big Pineapple Market is one of the biggest all weather markets on the Sunshine Coast, Every Saturday (6.30am to 2.00pm). The fair competition between stall holders and their care for customers, is what gives this Market charm and it is the draw card for thousands of people to visit each year.

The market is best known for its huge variety of fresh and local produce. Virtually 50% of the area is dedicated to the sale of fresh produce, including fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, chicken, seafood and delicatessen products. The remainder of the market is used for variety and specialty goods, with mid - morning being the most popular time for this category.

Mooloolaba-Minyama Separated Bikeway


Families and bike riders of all ages and abilities are invited to celebrate the opening of Mooloolaba's new separated bikeway – and enter the draw to win a $200 bike voucher – at a community event on Saturday 6 February at 8-10am.

The official opening includes a barbecue breakfast, free face painting, live music and roving entertainment, as well a prize draw for people who cycle along the route.

Ginger Flower & Food Festival 2016



Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the Ginger Flower & Food Festival is set to mark this milestone occasion with an exciting line up of local kitchen masters and gardening experts.

As one of Australia’s premier annual events, the Ginger Flower & Food Festival has stood the test of time on the Sunshine Coast, with guests returning year on year for this spectacular event.

With a promise to delight the senses, this year’s free event will welcome guests to The Ginger Factory, for three glorious days (22 - 24 January) of fabulous flowers, delicious food and entertainment for all.

Set to be the biggest yet, this 20th annual event will host live cooking demonstrations and garden talks that explore the processes of planting, growing, harvesting and cooking with gingers.

Visitors will be treated to a visual feast of vibrant colour with a three metre high central floral display. The most exquisite range of ornamental Gingers and Heliconias will be for sale throughout the festival, with plant varieties suited to all garden sizes available. Exploration into The Ginger Factory gardens will bring visitors face to face with stunning natural delights that flourish in our subtropical climate.

An event to be enjoyed by the whole family, The Ginger Flower and Food Festival is an incredible celebration of all that is local to Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
